LOVE IS A MINEFIELD (Vocal Remix)

A new version of the track LOVE IS A MINEFIELD by DREAM SEQUENCE. (Vocal Remix)

I met with Michael (Dream Sequence) today and asked 'Whats New'

"Firstly, the lyrics were written by my 12yo son Benjamin and also sang as well... Prob the hardest song i've had to do, most of the lyrics were too fast for the song, but its a start.
I replaced the bass arp with a nicer sounding arp but kept the 3D sound in the middle...
May do a video if it takes off, you can never tell, hope you like"

Thanks Michael.. Top effort
Loving the new arp sound and the end bit is awesome, just have to wait for a video now...

LOVE IS A MINEFIELD

LOVE IS A MINEFIELD by DREAM SEQUENCE

With hints of Frankie goes to Hollywood, The Cars and even Eurthmics... This, I Think, is Dream Sequence best work so far.. What do you think?

Inspired by the Eurythmics track 'Ball and Chain', the middle part was done in a 3D setting (Sounds mindblowing in a good set of headphones).

This is the Instrumental version, a lyric version with a few new sounds will be out soon..

Free download available at Soundcloud for limited time..

SUMMER

Demo track called SUMMER

I spoke to Michael (Dream Sequence) today, he said that this was just something he had in his computer and was going to delete it, but decided not to.
originally it was the track called Serenity but had a beat added to it... I always felt like it had something missing.. Michael said.

Meanwhile, Michael has told me that he is working on new material, and is putting in alot of time to get it right, sadly his health has been giving him grief so music time is cut short, that and the odd 40deg day (Its summer in Australia) doesn't help.

Michael said "I spent nearly a week perfecting a drum sound, its really good, im happy with it, got some great synth sounds and even some guitar riffs but its in pieces at the moment... Its even got a 3D synth sound in the middle 8 bridge part.. sounds amazing on headphones"

Michael also said that he has started to record everything in 24bit "that way when it comes to mastering, editing, it still holds its sound... just got to stick it together like a jigsaw puzzle"

Sounds interesting...

I AM A CYLON (REMASTERED)

A new remastered version of Dream Sequence / XTimelord - I am a Cylon.
I asked Michael (Dream Sequence) what was going on
.
"The overall sound to me, sounded muddy.. Somewhere when mastering the track, we messed it up... Well, I thought so.
I strive for perfection...  so we went back to the studio and did a better copy. It now sounds more "Fuller" and "Crisp" and the drums blend in better.
I am happy with this version, hope you like."

This track is also available for download, both on Soundcloud and Bandcamp

DREAM SEQUENCE Ft XTimelord - I AM A CYLON (Dance Edit)

NEW TRACK by DREAM SEQUENCE

So whats been happening?  I asked Michael Bailey (Dream Sequence)

"Firstly, its only a small thing but iv'e dropped the "THE" of The Dream Sequence so it is now "DREAM SEQUENCE" i think it sounds more compact... Moving on.

Secondly, I am a huge fan of the 80s series BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, so in my latest offerings, i have CYE the Cylon explaining to us that he is just a Cylon while pumping dance beats & Sexy Synth sounds envelope your ears...

Also used in this track is a Fairlight Synthesizer that uses the sound from Michael Jackson's 'Beat It' ... Can you pick the sound?

THIRDLY, i have teamed up with XTimelord,.

Who is XTimelord?.... Even i don't know".

Cheers  - Michael Bailey (Dream Sequence)

My thanks to Michael for his time, I must say, I love this new track, its wicked. Like Michael i also are a huge fan of Battlestar Galactica.. There's something about a cylon, shiny, deep, metallic.

Stay tuned for more sounds

What this video is about =
Everything you wanted to know about the 80s but were afraid to ask...
Take me Home is a place I dream of to escape this world, this harsh reality that we live in, where, on my home planet, it the 80s every year...
That Alien is me, I belong in the 80s.
This video explains what i miss, sure there's more but its only a 3 minute song.

TAKE ME HOME

NEW SONG TIME
While working on a new song, Michael (The Dream Sequence) got side tracked and while the beat was the same, the song isn't and its a ripper, i mean really good.
When Michael showed me the demo, i was like "this is good"...sounds awesome on a good set of headphones..

TAKE ME HOME

I asked Michael about the song TAKE ME HOME = "I love bass arps as much as the next person but i decided to run live... in other words play the drum beat which had already been programed for the song which i am currently working on (with a 3D feature) and i decided to kick some butt with a bass arp, this worked so i added 3 more layers to the somg, those being pad sounds from a Jupiter 8V, Crystal Bell sounds from a FM7 synth and lead sound from a Korg Monopoly....
I loved what i heard and while looking for a name, Take me Home came into my head, for some reason the song by Phil Collins "Take me Home" was also on my mind....
Strangely when looking for robot lyrics in my library, the TAKE ME HOME was already there, this had to be fate.. I thought.
All up this song took me about 1 hour to produce, the sound was already in my head, i just had to get it on tape...
And here's the finished product, i love listening to this song when walking, it gives me inspiration in what i can do as a musician and it sounds wicked on a good set of headphones".

This song is available on Bandcamp... CLICK HERE TO LISTEN

Thanks for reading folks, hope you like the new song as much as i do

NEW MUSIC COMMING

Just a quick update, spoke to Michael and he confirmed that he is working on new music.
He has layed down the beat and some various synth sounds with a twist....3D, the new song in the middle part will be done in a 3D environment.
Something different, Michael explained that he is a big fan of the band THE EURYTHMICS and a particular song called Ball and Chain where in the middle of the song is a 3d type sensation...

Cant Wait, sounds exciting..

Sadly, being winter here in Australia, the cold affects Michael and his injury's giving him a hell of a time in the pain dept which is slowing him down....

We wish him all the best

MAN MACHINE

THIS WAS A SURPRISE.. I haven't heard from Michael for a few days and then BAM a new Song and Video.... Well , not really a new song... Let me Explain.

After we listened to Cyborg in Japan, Michael wasnt happy with it...He was upset about the robot beeps that is his words 'Sounded like shit' and messed up the overall sound so he re-edited it or in his words "Re-wired" and renamed the finished song MAN MACHINE.

SO whats changed?

I asked Michael.

"The crappy computer beeps are gone, the bass lines are more outstanding and the finish is different, i'm really happy with it and the video is really good. I wanted lasers but not too many and lots of lights, like something from a nightclub
Its Futuristic Dance meets Analogue Sounds...
Metallic beats, Robotic Organisms and 80s Analogue Synthesizers is what 'Man Machine' is about.
Did someone say ...ACID - the Roland 303 Synth also pays a visit...
This song will feature in the "Sounds Like the 80s" segment on blog site Electronic80s."

I think its possibly is the best song so far from THE DREAM SEQUENCE

I give MAN MACHINE a 10/10, an stunning visual experience with incredible dance beats...

WHERE THE MAGIC HAPPENS

A sneak peak at Michael's workstation, the creator of "The Dream Sequence"...

Michaels favourite Synth = the Jupiter-8V (Below)

Michael states "It looks a mess but it works for me. I use 2 tape decks to record synth sounds, one is a Yamaha K-220 Audio deck and the other is a NEC NDT-40 Video recorder. I use 3 Synths / Keyboards - An  Arturia 25key "Analogue Experience" Midi Synth (great for making the 303 acid sound), 1x M-Audio 49key "Keystation" (great for lower bass sounds and upper pad sounds at the same time) and a Yamaha PSR-2...Its Basic but has a few basic sounds that are good sometimes."

Thanks to Michael Bailey from "THE DREAM SEQUENCE" for sharing his photos with us..

CYBORG IN JAPAN (DUB VERSION)

ITS HERE.... The video for THE DREAM SEQUENCE new song CYBORG IN JAPAN - The Dub Version.
Its a reworked version of the previous post and its a ripper, I Love It.

THE DREAM SEQUENCE - CYBORG IN JAPAN (Dub Version)

WOW, what a stunning video.

Info from the video site -
2014 Song for Electronic outfit "The Dream Sequence" with the track 'Cyborg in Japan'.
Using mostly 80s synths this dance song was made using Korg iElectribe (Electronic Drums, changes with the song), Roland TB-303 for the classic 'Acid' sound, Metallic Bass Synth (Reverb cranked), Akai iMPC (Clap Echo) and Various Voice Synths for "Robot Effects).
I love anything Science Fiction and Japanese so i decided to mesh the two together... Hopefully with decent results.
Thank you to the owner of the original video (xXMasterI360Xx).

I spoke to Michael about the video release = "Im very happy with it, heaps of robots, i believe their Gundam robots, i love them, the colours, lights, action and their Japanese.
This version of the song is about the third attempt, hope you like, took alot of hours and painkillers to get it where it is... hahaha
Originally i wanted some type of Cyborg for the video but nothing suitable could be found so i went with these awesome looking robots.
I even though about renaming all the music downloads and this video to "Gundam in Japan" but haven't done so yet.
Im finished with it now, time to start on part 2 of this musical experience. Half the new song is finished, its a pop / melody version of this song, not as heavy dance as CYBORG IN JAPAN.
It has sweeping synths and a more pop feel to it, see how it goes.
I also started another song about a month ago as well but it remains unfinished.
Its done the same way as my earlier work, i have used synth sounds from a ELKA SYNTHEX (this synth was used by Duran Duran), it has stunning sounds that i love, i believe its a Italian Synth, i should start working on this song again soon, i hope
I just hope people like the work that i am doing, i love it, some of the synth sounds are heavenly, i could get carried away and rave on for hours about the different sounds you can get from different Synthesizers but i wont.
Might put people to sleep. haha
Thank you to all the fans who have given me positive feedback (and not so positive), i do take it on board, hence the reason that there are now 3 versions of this song, 3rd time lucky, who knows"

Sounds like some great thing happening for THE DREAM SEQUENCE, cant wait.

CYBORG IN JAPAN

YESTERDAY i posted a demo from THE DREAM SEQUENCE (Michael Bailey), today i can reveal the finished product.
Renamed CYBORG IN JAPAN, its a killer.

The 303 sound is still there (i love the 303 acid machine) and the metallic synth has been turned down a bit, it even features robotic vocals.

I spoke to Michael quickly today as he spent all day recording and editing this track, i asked him what does he think about Cyborg in Japan?
"Its Awesome, I really like it. For about a year now i have had this sound in my head how i want a dance song to sound, a garage dance song, dirty and loud with a hint of robotics or cyborg... bit of Science fiction if you will, i just hope people like it... Its taken me about a year to create my dream. well i like it"

Its very futuristic, and danceable (is that a word?)

A video is in the pipeline..

*** A new version called 'the dub version' has been done with a awesome video, i shall put up soon.
Michael stated that he thought that this version lacked something so he has re-edited and added a video...cant wait :)   *******************

Stay tuned

NIGHTCLUB IN JAPAN

New music from THE DREAM SEQUENCE with a hard edge dance track. Called NIGHTCLUB IN JAPAN it features a metallic sounding synth that gives this song a raw sound....
I love it, sounds kick arse....

I asked Michael about his thoughts regarding this new song = "Its a demo at the moment, i had this sound in my head for a while and working on what i think it sounds like.
I love the 303 acid sound, mix that with a dance beat from a Korg Electribe and a Metal synth sound and its what i image what a Nightclub in Japan would sound like.... Fast and Hard"

He told me there is another version of this song, its not as hard edge as this one, still has the 303, but has more melody to it... Releasing it soon with videos for both as well.

Sounds interesting

cheers Marty

This is great, the original song 'Lets Go' has been released.
This version includes the sexy guitar sounds in the middle part and has a softer beat all round..

LETS GO (Dance Version)

Absolutely amazing,
Loving the sound of the new single from The Dream Sequence called - Lets Go.

When i last spoke to Michael, he told me he was working on a new song that sounded different, and here it is.

From the soundcloud page =  An awesome song to start the year, The Dream Sequence is back with a wicked track... "Lets Go"
Robotic syths with a mind altering effect that sounds like nothing else...
Electronic drum machines linger in the background while the bass kicks you where it hurts... The dream is alive.

THE DREAM SEQUENCE - LETS GO

Holy shit, this is good, a little weird but good... Its so 80s (This video is from the U.K series "Hitman & Her")
Check out the original video -  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FMSap7ZbJA0

Soundcloud link = https://soundcloud.com/the-dream-sequence/the-dream-sequence-lets-go

*****************************************************************************
I spoke to michael this morning about the new single = "Its meant to sound different, i don't want to sound mainstream, how boring would that be
You wont stand out if you sound the same as everyone else, and from what i can gather, i do things a little different to most artists anyway...
Some artists that claim to sound 80s (not all) use computer programs to make their noise, so in the end, all songs start sounding (well, to me) the same... Same bass arp sound, same synth sounds because their limited to a computer program, arrange it a bit and there's a track, next week another one and so on,. Don't get me wrong, if artists enjoy doing that, good for them but its not for me, its not the way i do things.

I record my sounds on a Vintage Yamaha tape deck from several synths like the Prophet, Jupiter 8v and in this song i used a Oberheim synth for the arp sounds. I record 'Bits' about 8 bars in length of sounds i like, lay down a beat using a drum machine and like a jigsaw puzzle, arrange the sounds to fit the beat, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't..but at least i know that i played the sounds, there sounds i like, not computer generated sounds.
.
At the end of the day, music listeners will either like my sounds or they won't... simple
but i enjoy making music and wont be stopping anytime soon"

Sounds interesting, can't wait to see whats around the corner...

cheers, Marty

NIGHT ON THE GALACTIC RAILWAY

The Dream Sequence first demo, this video was shot over 2 days in Springwood and Faulconbridge NSW, Australia by Michael Bailey. Additional help by Benjamin and Daniel Bailey.

NIGHT ON THE GALACTIC RAILWAY

WHO IS THE DREAM SEQUENCE?

Q. Who is "Dream Sequence"?
A. Dream Sequence is the work of electronic music producer ... Michael Bailey.

Q. Who is Michael Bailey and where is he from?
A. Michael is from Springwood, NSW, Australia, he is married and has 4 children.
Michael is a blog writer for Electronic80s, Soundz80s, and 8 other blog sites

                                                                Michael Bailey

Q. Why did Michael start Dream Sequence?
A. After working on Electronic80s for 3 years, his passion for 80s music was the drive to start a music project with an 80s synthesizer sound. He also stated, he wanted to leave behind a reminder to his children after he dies, as in his words "Music never Dies", 'Oh, and to give something back to the music world'

Q. Where did the name Dream Sequence come from?
A. It is a Kim Wilde song (Michael liked the sound of it)

Q. What influences the sound of Dream Sequence?
A. Australian 80s bands like Pseudo Echo, Kids in the Kitchen, Real Life, Dear Enemy, Icehouse and N.Z band Koo De Tah have influences in Dream Sequence's music.

Artists like Per Gessel (Roxette), Vince Clarke (Yazoo, Depeche Mode, Erasure) also rate high.
New bands like Cut Copy, Client Liaison, Eurotix, and a ton more often featured on the Soundz80s website.

Q. Is Dream Sequence on a recording label?
A. No

Q. Whats your favorite pizza topping?
A. Garlic Prawns or Vegetarian..

Q. Favorite Movie of all time?
A. Back to the Future, 1,2,and 3.  Time travel is the dreams of anyone who loves the 80s, to go back and relive the fashion, music and big hair.

Q. Whats your favorite place to hang out or visit?
A. Where i am living now is stunning... Springwood (NSW) is in the Blue Mountains (Australia) and is a beautiful place to live, I feel very blessed, its truly magical.
Campbelltown (NSW) where i grew up, i miss that place, i lived at East Campbelltown, it was a great place, still is.

Q. Favorite band of the 80s?
A. Now that's a hard question, Its a toss up between Canadian New Wave bands, Koo De Tah, Pseudo Echo, Boxcar. Duran Duran....
I can't pick, next question please.

Q. Whats next for The Dream Sequence?
A. "Im working on material for the Soundz80s site, kinda like a theme song... but between family (raising 4 kids is a hard job), husband commitments (my wife always comes first) and my crappy health problems, it slows him down alot....

I asked him about his health issue....

"It fucks with my brain (pardon the french)" he replied, 'the pain...and the side effects of medication'.
Michael has been dead twice from a bike accident in the late 1989 (he was hit by a car going 80kmph on his way to work), He broke his pelvis in 4 places, had massive internal bleeding, 28 blood transfusions, torn bladder, dislocated shoulder, broken collarbone and a string of other problems....

                                Michael in 1989

I asked him about being dead.

"That's some weird shit being dead" he said, 'there is a light, a bright wonderful light, that you float in and the feeling is intense, so amazing, like euphoric feeling, that's all i remember'

If that wasn't bad enough, he had another accident at work 3 years ago and damaged his spine, so far he has had 8 spinal injections to fix the nerves and block the pain, but it hasn't worked.

"Music helps me with controlling the pain" he told me, 'Takes me to another place",
'on a positive side, if it hadn't been for the last accident i would have never gone down this path, Funny how life works', he said.

Q. Why did i start this website about Dream Sequence?
A. Apart from being a close friend of Michael's, I love the synthesizer sound of 'Dream Sequence', its different than other synth bands, i hope for Michael's sake that his band/music project really goes somewhere big, because he deserves it.
After all the shit he's been through, and is going through now with his pain, he still remains positive, and it shows in his music.
